My Grandpa believed 1 Timothy 6:6 was “the most profound and important verse in the Bible.” It says “Godliness with contentment is great gain.”

Contentment is something only God can give. It isn’t found in the things of this world. You can scroll, go retail-therapy shopping, or watch one more episode… but you will only find lasting peace and contentment by spending time with God.

When Jesus shared the parable of the sower, He said “The cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches and the desires for other things enter in and choke the word, and it proves unfruitful.” See, life's worries, money, and worldly desires choke the fruit of God’s Word in our lives. Contentment doesn't come from material things. It comes from believing God is who He says He is and living in response to that belief.

Let this be your reminder that Godliness with contentment is great gain. 1 Timothy 6:6
