My aunt used to say, “Don’t doubt in the darkness what you learned in the light.”

Why is it so hard to believe in the middle of hardships?

In Mark 8, the disciples and Jesus get on a boat. And the disciples realize they only packed one piece of bread, so they get anxious and start to argue with each other. And Jesus says “Why are you arguing about having no bread? Don’t you know or understand even yet? Are your hearts too hard to take it in? You have eyes- Can’t you see? You have ears- Can’t you hear? Don't you remember anything at all? When I fed the 5,000 with 5 loaves of bread. How many baskets of leftovers did you pick up afterward?” “Twelve” - they said. “And when I fed the 4,000 with 7 loaves, how many large baskets of leftovers did you pick up?” “Seven” they said. “Don’t you understand yet?” He asked them.

They were so focused on the problem, instead of God's faithfulness. They were focused on their fear, they forgot what He had done.

Life can be difficult, the best way to stay at peace and to be full of faith through it all is by reminding ourselves of who He is and what He has done for you and the generations before you.

Let this be your reminder to not doubt in the darkness what you learned in the light.
